One Big, Happy Weekend :)

What a great weekend!! :)
Friday was a good day at work...productive...with an interview in the afternoon for a new position at Easter Seals. I was very nervous going into it...I am not a fan of "talking up" myself, but it ended up being quite enjoyable. I really respect and enjoy the two people who interviewed me, and it was a really great opportunity to just sit and talk with them, learn more about them, and learn more about our organization. The longer I am at Easter Seals, the more passionate I become about that wonderful organization.

After work, Jer and I went to a happy hour at Killarney's in downtown Bloomington to say good-bye/good-luck to his friend and co-worker, Adam, who is moving to St. Louis for a new position with State Farm next weekend.

Saturday....was a big day :). In the morning Jer and I ran the Warrior Dash in Joliet with some friends....talk about a crazy, crazy race! It is a 3.17-mile race, complete with twelve crazy obstacles (including jumping over FIRE! Haha!!).

Here I am with my friend Ashley, pre-race:

Nice and clean, eh? ;)

Here I am with Jer, pre-race :)

Aaaannnnd....here I am with Ashley, POST-race! A bit different looking! Totally covered in mud! It was an absolute BLAST!!

Here I am with Jer, post-race. He is holding up 1 finger to remind everyone that HE beat ME and is indeed number one ;)

After driving back home and getting cleaned up...I headed to Peoria with my good friend Jamie and another co-worker (a sweet girl named Jill who just recently started working with us) for an Easter Seals fundraising event...Wines and Polo on the Prairie. It was AWESOME!
Here we are, look....I got all of that mud off of me! Well.....most of it, I'll say. Truth be told...my fingernails, feet, and knees were still pretty disgusting. And, you can't really tell in the photo...but I was sporting a streaky, nasty sunburn on my arms and neck! Ha!! As I posted on my facebook status that night..."Trying to be classy, but so far it's a train wreck!" HA!

Today we went to the 9am (EARLY! ;)) service at our church with Jeremy's parents and then came home....I went on a 5 mile run (I did five miles at a 8:40 pace in the HEAT, which I was pleased with :)) and then we met up with Jer's friend Aaron at Chipotle for lunch :). He had been camping and going to see Dave Matthew's Band in Indianapolis this weekend and was passing through Bloomington with his wife Katie, Katie's brother Matt (Kramit) and Kramit's girlfriend Mara. Kramit, Katie, and Mara wanted to eat at Flat Top...and we wanted Chipotle ;), so they dropped Aaron off at Chipotle and headed over to Flat Top! When we were done, we went over to Flat Top and hung out with them for a while there. It was great to see them :).
Tonight we went out to dinner to Destihl (one of my FAVORITE Bloomington restaurants) to celebrate Father's Day with Jer's parents and brother. I had an awesome spinach/orange/strawberry/goat cheese salad and a bison burger. YUM! AND, the best orange-ginger iced tea ever...DELICIOUS!
Happy Father's Day to all of the amazing fathers out there, and in particular to the amazing fathers I am blessed to have in my life. Here's my shout-out to the five top fathers in my life :): Thankfulness for fathers

Have a great week, all!

Rachel
